Report: Seahawks showed interest in T.O.

At 36-years old and coming off his worst statistical season since 1999, wide receiver Terrell Owens remains a free agent. Of course, a bad attitude and a diminishing skill set aren’t exactly two attributes that will have potential suitors beating down the door with lucrative contract offers.

However, that doesn’t mean a few of the NFL’s 32 teams aren’t willing to kick the tires and at least inquire about the former Pro Bowler.

Per a report from Steve Wyche of NFL.com, the Seattle Seahawks are one of several teams that made “exploratory phone calls” about Owens this offseason.

If the calls came before the Seahawks selected Notre Dame wide receiver Golden Tate in April’s draft, this news shouldn’t really shock anybody. Seattle ranked 15th in passing offense last season (218.9 yds/gm), 25th in scoring offense (17.5 pts/gm) and didn’t have a single wideout top 1,000 receiving yards on the season.

Not to mention the fact that the Seahawks only got three touchdowns out of T.J. Houshmandzadeh in 2009, just a few less than the team probably envisioned when they signed him to a five-year, $40 million deal last offseason.

Regardless of Seattle’s level of interest, Owens remains available for work—likely on the cheap.
