Report: Wade Phillips will be back in Big D

Wade Phillips will be back in Big D next season.

Owner Jerry Jones has decided to bring Phillips back for the 2010 season despite the 34-3 loss the Cowboys suffered at Minnesota on Sunday, according to Ed Werder of ESPN.com.

Phillips has gone 33-15 during the regular season in the three years he has been the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. He brought the team their first playoff win since 1996 when the Cowboys defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 34-14 in the wild card round of this year’s playoffs.

However, speculation had been mounting after Sunday’s loss at Minnesota that Phillips could be back on the hot seat.

While Phillips returning for another season is good news for the coach, Werder reports that there has yet to be a decision on whether or not Phillips will get a contract extension.

Dallas has an option for 2010 that will pay Phillips roughly $3 million.

The question is, how do Cowboys fans feel about the return of a coach who was won two NFC East titles in three years, but has just one playoff win to show for it?
