Sack specialist Odom back at practice in Cincy
The Cincinnati Bengals finished 16th in the league in sacks last season (34), but you can bet those totals would have been more impressive had Antwan Odom been around a little bit longer.
Odom—a six-year veteran out of Alabama—recorded eight sacks in Cincinnati’s first six games last year before being lost for the season due to a ruptured Achilles tendon. Prior to the injury, Odom had racked up 19 sacks in his last 34 games.
The good news out of Cincinnati is that it looks like the 28-year old defensive end is going to be ready for the 2010 season. Per a report from the NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora, the Bengals are expecting Odom to be full go when training camp opens later this summer.
Cincinnati may have had some early concern regarding Odom’s availability for 2010 as the team selected Florida defensive end Carlos Dunlap in the second round of April’s draft. However, it now looks like Dunlap will have the privilege of learning from Odom as the Bengals get set to defend last season’s AFC North championship.
