Source: Bucs to work out Selvie next week
University of South Florida defensive end George Selvie is scheduled to work out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on April 8, according to a league source.
The 6’4”, 252-pounder burst onto the college football scene as a sophomore in 2007 when he recorded 14 sacks (second in NCAA) and 31.5 tackles for loss (first in NCAA) on his way to earning consensus First Team All-American honors.
In 2009, Selvie racked up 40 stops (18 solo) and three sacks for the 8-5 Bulls. Prior to finishing his four-year career at USF, Selvie was the active NCAA career tackles for loss leader, with 69.5.
An explosive athlete who knows how to find the football, Selvie could be moved to outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme when he makes the jump to the NFL later this month.
The Buccaneers own the third overall pick in the first round, but wouldn’t target Selvie until day two or three of the draft.
