Source: Jahvid Best visiting the Chargers today
The running back interviews continue Monday in Southern California.
Updating an earlier report from our own Aaron Wilson, the National Football Post has learned that California running back Jahvid Best will meet with the Chargers today in San Diego, according to a league source.
The Bolts recently met with running backs Montario Hardesty (Tennessee) and Toby Gerhart (Stanford). Following LaDainian Tomlinson’s departure from San Diego, it has become clear that the Chargers are determined to upgrade the running back position through this year’s draft.
The 5’10”, 199-pound Best rushed for 867 yards and 12 touchdowns for the 8-5 Golden Bears in 2009. The 21-year-old suffered a concussion after a nasty fall against Oregon State that ended his season.
A dual-threat back with lightning quick speed, Best ran a 4.35 40-yard-dash at February’s combine, which was tops among the running backs who worked out in Indianapolis.
Best is currently the NFP's No. 1 ranked running back prospect.
