Source: Lions not interested in bringing Culpepper back
The Detroit Lions are not interested in bringing back veteran quarterback Daunte Culpepper for the 2010 season, according to a league source.
Culpepper, an eleven-year veteran out of Central Florida, signed a two-year deal with the Lions in November of 2008. In two seasons in Detroit, Culpepper has made ten starts.
During the 2009 season, the veteran signal-caller threw for 945 yards and three touchdowns with six interceptions.
The news that the Lions are not interested in bringing back Culpepper for the 2010 season contradicts what General Manager Martin Mayhew told reporters on Thursday, when he said he “wouldn’t rule out bringing Daunte back.”
According to the source, there is “very little chance” the 32 year-old Culpepper will be back in the Motor City next season.
