Source: Sheridan expected to join the Dolphins

Former New York Giants defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan is expected to join the Miami Dolphins as their linebackers coach, according to a league source.

Sheridan was fired as the defensive coordinator of the Giants just one day after the team lost 44-7 to the Minnesota Vikings in their final game of the season.

He was the defensive coordinator in New York for just one season. The Giants went 8-8 this year and missed the playoffs.

Sheridan now joins a Dolphins team that is currently in the market for a new defensive coordinator. Former defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni was fired on Monday after a 7-9 season in which the Dolphins ranked 22nd in total defense (349.3 yds/gm) and 25th in points allowed (24.4 pts/gm).

The Dolphins are rumored to be interested in hiring Romeo Crennel as their new defensive coordinator.
