Source: Vikings to work out Florida's Dunlap
Florida defensive end Carlos Dunlap has an upcoming private workout scheduled with the Minnesota Vikings, according to a league source.
Dunlap—one of the draft’s most impressive physical specimens—recorded 34 tackles (25 solo) and nine sacks for the 13-1 Gators in 2009 on his way to being named first-team All SEC by the Associated Press. The 6’6”, 277-pound defensive end racked up 18 sacks in his last two seasons at Florida.
The 21-year-old is an impressive mix of size, speed and power. Dunlap ran a 4.65 40-yard-dash at February’s combine and is considered by many to be one of the top defensive end prospects in this year’s draft class.
In addition to his upcoming meeting with the Vikings, Dunlap has already worked out for the New Orleans Saints.
The Vikings currently have 28-year-old Jared Allen and 25-year-old Ray Edwards starting at defensive end, but as we all know, you can never have enough quality pass rushers in the NFL.
This is where I normally insert a YouTube video of the player we’re breaking down, but since there weren’t any good highlight videos of Dunlap, here’s a video of the Gators running their circle drill in 2009.
