Week 5 Wednesday Injury Report

NFL teams were back on the practice field Wednesday in preparation for their Week 5 games. Here’s the rundown on which players are currently battling some injuries that are worth keeping an eye on:

Michael Jenkins, WR, Atlanta Falcons: Jenkins is still battling a shoulder injury and was held to limited reps in practice on Wednesday. However, he continues to get closer to making his first start of the season. Owners in need of WR help should keep an eye on Jenkins’ progress.

Jerome Harrison, RB, Cleveland Browns: Despite a nagging thigh injury, Harrison was a full participant in practice on Wednesday.

Jake Delhomme, QB, Cleveland Browns: Delhomme was held to limited reps in practice on Wednesday. However, with the way backup QB Seneca Wallace has been playing lately, Delhomme could wind up losing his starting job.

Jay Cutler, QB, Chicago Bears: Cutler was held to limited reps in practice on Wednesday after suffering a concussion in Sunday night’s loss at New York (Giants). This is a good sign for Cutler owners.

Steve Smith, WR, Carolina Panthers: Smith was held out of practice on Wednesday due to a high ankle sprain and is not expected to play Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

DeAngelo Williams, RB, Carolina Panthers: Williams missed practice on Wednesday due to an illness.

Ray Rice, RB, Baltimore Ravens: Rice (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.

Morgan Burnett & Nick Barnett, S & LB, Green Bay Packers: Burnett (knee) and Barnett (wrist) are both out for the season.

Clinton Portis, RB, Washington Redskins: Portis is expected to miss the next four to six weeks after suffering a separated groin in last Sunday’s game at Philadelphia. Don’t be surprised if he doesn’t return to action this season.

Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars: MJD was held out of practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury.

Donald Brown, RB, Indianapolis Colts: Brown did not practice on Wednesday due to a hamstring injury.

Austin Collie, WR, Indianapolis Colts: Collie did not practice on Wednesday due to a foot injury.

Reggie Wayne, WR, Indianapolis Colts: Wayne did not practice on Wednesday due to a knee injury.

Pierre Garcon, WR, Indianapolis Colts: Garcon was a full participant in practice on Wednesday after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury. This is good news for Garcon owners and also doubles as a slight bit of bad news for Collie owners.

Joseph Addai, RB, Indianapolis Colts: Despite a nagging knee injury, Addai was a full participant in practice on Wednesday.

Pierre Garcon, RB, New Orleans Saints: Garcon was held out of practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury.

Jeremy Shockey, TE, New Orleans Saints: Shockey was held to limited reps in practice on Wednesday due to a knee injury.

Steve Breaston, WR, Arizona Cardinals: Breaston is still battling a knee injury (had surgery last week) and missed practice on Wednesday. He will most likely be ruled out for this Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

Ahmad Bradshaw, RB, New York Giants: Bradshaw was held out or practice on Wednesday due to a knee injury.

Mathias Kiwanuka, DE, New York Giants: Kiwanuka missed practice on Wednesday due to a neck injury that forced him to miss last Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Andre Johnson, WR, Houston Texans: Johnson did not practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury that forced him to miss Houston’s Week 4 win at Oakland.

Jacoby Jones, WR, Houston Texans: Jones was held out of practice on Wednesday due to a calf injury.

Owen Daniels, TE, Houston Texans: Daniels was held to limited reps in practice on Wednesday to a nagging hamstring injury.

Zach Miller, TE, Oakland Raiders: Miller was held to limited reps in practice on Wednesday due to a sore hip.

Darren McFadden, RB, Oakland Raiders: McFadden did not practice on Wednesday due to a hamstring injury he suffered in the second half of Sunday’s loss to the Houston Texans.

Steven Jackson, RB, St. Louis Rams: S-Jax was held to limited reps in Wednesday’s practice due to a groin injury. If he battled through it last week, expect him to do the same this Sunday vs. the Detroit Lions.

Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit Lions: Stafford missed practice again on Wednesday due to a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 1. He will likely miss this week’s game against the St. Louis Rams.

Tony Scheffler, TE, Detroit Lions: Scheffler was held out of Wednesday’s practice due to a concussion.

Jahvid Best, RB, Detroit Lions: Best was held to limited reps in Wednesday’s practice as he continues to battle back from a turf toe injury.

LeSean McCoy, RB, Philadelphia Eagles: Shady missed practice on Wednesday due to a broken rib he suffered in Week 4 against the Washington Redskins. No official word as of yet on his status for Sunday night’s game at San Francisco.

Michael Vick, QB, Philadelphia Eagles: Vick did not practice on Wednesday (ribs, chest) and is likely OUT for Sunday night’s game at San Francisco.
