Your Championship Weekend point spreads are open for business

We’ve got seven days until the start of Championship Weekend in the NFL, but that hasn’t stopped the city of Las Vegas from getting an early jump on next week’s action.

Following the Baltimore Ravens’ 20-13 grind-it-out victory over the Houston Texans Sunday afternoon, BetOnline.com opened the New England Patriots as a 6.5-point favorite for the AFC Championship game. That opening number was quickly bet up to NE -7.5, which is where it now stands at BetOnline.com as well as the Hilton, MGM and Wynn sportsbooks in Vegas.

Jim and John HarbaughCould we be headed for a Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh Super Bowl?

Early bettors appear to have liked what they saw from Tom Brady and the Patriots in their 45-10 dismantling of the Denver Broncos on Saturday, but don’t rule out the idea of these guys jumping on New England early in an effort to move the line north, so that they can come back later in the week and bet bigger on the Ravens at a more favorable number.

The total for the AFC Championship game opened at 48 and now sits anywhere from 49.5 to 50.5.

In what many will consider to be the shocker of the weekend (not this guy), the New York Giants went into Lambeau Field and stunned the 15-1 top-seeded Packers 37-20. The Wynn was the first shop to hang a number for next week’s NFC Championship, with the 49ers opening as a 1-point favorite and the total set at 45.

The Hilton opened the game at a pick ‘em, while BetOnline.com came out with the 49ers as a 1-point favorite.

At first glance, I’ll take the Patriots -7.5 and the Giants +1. I’ve also got an eye on the NYG-SF under (45).

Update: The Wynn, MGM and BetOnline.com have all moved the NFC Championship game to SF -1.5
