MIAMI, Fla-Former Miami Heat All-Star Alonzo Mourning stopped by the Catalina Hotel and Beach Club in South Beach Thursday afternoon to speak with some of the local youth about the importance of getting a good education and planning for the future.

And being the nice guy that he is, Mourning agreed to take a few minutes out of his busy schedule to talk with us.

“I felt like through my experiences, that I could kind of share with them [the kids] the importance of education and hard work and commitment and sacrifice and things of that nature, you know, which in turn, are pretty much the tools to success,” Mourning told me. “Success doesn’t just happen.”

Mourning is very active in the Miami community, where he excelled as an NBA center for 11 of his 15 professional seasons. You can check out his website HERE.

Mourning also took a few minutes to make his predictions for this Sunday’s Super Bowl.

Here’s what the big man likes:

BREES vs. MANNING, MOST PASSING YARDS: Peyton Manning

ADDAI vs. THOMAS, MOST RUSHING YARDS: Joseph Addai

SAINTS vs. COLTS, WINNER: “I give the edge to the Colts because of experience, but I want to root for the Saints.”

KIM KARDASHIAN vs. ARCHIE/ELI MANNING, MOST SUPER BOWL FACE TIME: “If I was the cameraman, Kim Kardashian. But obviously Archie and Eli Manning.”
