Greg Hardy: 'I hate that I've been a distraction'

<p> Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy expressed regret that his conviction of assaulting and threatening to kill a former girlfriend has been a sideshow to his team.</p> <p> Hardy is appealing the verdict and will later receive a jury trial.</p> <p> "I hate that I have distracted my team, but other than that I can't really answer any questions," Hardy told reporters. He declined to answer questions about the case.</p> <p> Hardy hasn't been disciplined by the NFL or the team as it's a pending legal matter.</p> <p> Hardy is the Panthers' franchise player, at a cost of $13.1 million.
