$15,000 fine doesn't sit well with Titans' Hayes
William Hayes disagreed with the 15-yard penalty he got for hitting Matt Ryan on Sunday for "landing on the quarterback with his full weight" and plans to appeal the fine.
So he certainly had something to say about the $15,000 fine handed down by the NFL for the hit. Ryan was off balance and throwing the football away when Hayes took one step after Ryan released the ball and knocked the Falcons QB to the turf.
“I don't understand the rules of the NFL a little bit right now. I'm planning to appeal it. I'm trying to go through the appeals process right now. I'm trying to figure out how you hit a quarterback now,” Hayes told TitanInsider.com. “I thought it was clean.”
Hayes said he turned so his full weight wouldn't land on Ryan, and that the hit wasn't late either.
“There was just one dealing with the quarterback and I understood that one. It was a late hit. But too much body weight on the quarterback? That (expletive) is crazy and I don't understand it a little bit. Can you explain to me how you're supposed to hit a quarterback?” Hayes said
