49ers add Leonard Davis to mix on offensive line

The San Francisco 49ers have added a big man to lend some depth to their offensive line.

The club announced that it has signed guard Leonard Davis to a one-year contract.

Davis spent much of last season with the Detroit Lions but did not appear in a game. That followed a standout career with the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys. He is a three-time Pro Bowl selection.

The 33-year-old Davis had visited the 49ers earlier in the offseason and he could be in the mix at what looks to be a wide open situation at right guard. Adam Snyder started most of the season there last year and he is gone, as is Chilo Rachal, who started the 2011 season as the starter.

We’ll see if a refreshed Davis has anything left in the tank for the Niners.
