49ers, Browns emerge in DeSean Jackson race

Two additional teams have emerged as contenders for receiver DeSean Jackson.

In addition to the Redskins, NBC Washington reported the San Francisco 49ers and the Cleveland Browns have become contenders to land the former Eagles receiver.

Jackson was released last Friday after Philadelphia was unable to find a trading partner. In addition, a report from NJ.com that alleged Jackson had ties to a gang in Los Angeles was published shortly before the Eagles finalized their decision to release him.

Two scenarios could be playing out here:

1) Despite having heavy interest in joining Washington, Jackson wants to make sure all of his options are open before making a final decision.

2) Jackson could be using the possibility of being joining San Francisco or Cleveland, or any other team, so that the Redskins feel forced to reach a deal faster than they'd prefer.

Either way, it's clear that despite the character concerns associated with Jackson's image at this time, there are still some teams eager to take the speedy receiver on their roster.

Jackson is coming off a career year where he caught 82 passes for 1,332 yards and nine touchdowns.
