49ers cut Asomugha, activate Manningham, Wright

The San Francisco 49ers activated wide receiver Mario Manningham and cornerback Eric Wright to the active roster.

They cut veteran cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, who was inactive despite being healthy for the past three games.

Manningham tore ligaments in his left knee in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks last season.

The wide receiver began the season on the physically-unable-to-perform list and began practicing with the 49ers three weeks ago. Last season, Manningham had 42 catches for 449 yards and a touchdown.

Asomugha, 32, signed a one-year, $1.35 million contract and began the season as the third cornerback.
