49ers cut Nathan Stupar

The San Francisco 49ers cut linebacker Nate Stupar today.

The 49ers now have two roster spots open.

Troubled All-Pro outside linebacker Aldon Smith has returned from the non-football injury list and is eligible to be activated at any time. The 49ers were granted a roster exemption through Wednesday, but can activate Smith at any time.

Stupar was originally signed to the 49ers practice squad on Jan. 8,

He was re-signed by San Francisco to a reserve-future deal in February, and opened this season on the 53-man roster. He appeared in five games this season and recorded three tackles on special teams.
