49ers hire Bobby Engram as offensive assistant
The San Francisco 49ers have hired Bobby Engram as an offensive assistant.
A 14-year veteran who caught 650 passes over the course of his career, Engram played eight seasons in the West Coast offense under Mike Holmgren in Seattle. It’s similar to what the 49ers want to do offensively under Jim Harbaugh, so it made Engram, a rookie coach, a good fit.
His final season came in 2009 with the Kansas City Chiefs. Engram was a record holder at Penn State when he finished his career there in 1995.
