49ers hope to bring Frank Gore back
Frank Gore has been a staple of the San Francisco 49ers organization. But following the conclusion of the league year, Gore will be a free agent and can sign with any team that wants the 31-year-old.
Gore hasn't had as productive of a season as he's had in years past, but is just 38 yards away from his eighth 1,000-yard season. Of course, the 49ers are in a position whether to try and bring him back or hand the reigns over to Carlos Hyde for seasons to come.
General manager Trent Baalke, via CSNBayArea.com, said the 49ers want Gore back in 2015.
“He understands what he means to this organization,” Baalke said. “He would certainly like to be back, and we would certainly like to have him back. Now, whether we can make that a reality or not, time will tell.”
Of course, at Gore's age, he probably won't be able to make the kind of money he'd be hopeful of earning. And with the aforementioned Hyde, he'd probably see a lesser role on offense too. Both of those will be contributing factors as to whether Gore is actually in San Francisco in 2015, despite what the team may wish.
