49ers looking to strike deep this season

The San Francisco 49ers are looking to strike deep more often this season with newcomer wide receivers Torrey Smith and Jerome Simpson. Plus, they'll throw deep to tight end Vernon Davis. "Vernon is stretching the field," 49ers coach Jim Tomsula said"Vernon looks extremely fast. Catching the ball really well. Again, the next three days, I’d rather you watch it then me talk a lot about it because you’ll have the opportunity to see it.” Davis caught just two touchdown passes last season. Smith caught 11 touchdowns last season. "It's something that we've (the 49ers) worked on more, too," quarterback Colin Kaepernick said. "We added the weapons to go down down the field. That's something we've got more reps at, we've gotten more comfortable with. Hopefully, that carries over." Follow me on Twitter: @RavensInsider Aaron Wilson covers the Ravens for The Baltimore Sun
