49ers meeting with Hue Jackson this morning
Trent Baalke is going to hit the ground running.
He was named the general manager of the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday night and this morning he’ll begin his first day on the job interviewing Hue Jackson, the offensive coordinator of the Oakland Raiders, for the head-coaching vacancy.
The 49ers sought and received permission to meet with Jackson before Baalke was hired. He is considered to be a frontrunner to replace Tom Cable as the head coach of the Raiders, but perhaps Jackson is looking for an escape from the Black Hole first.
San Francisco is expected to pursue Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh, but no meeting has been scheduled yet, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area. One league source said Harbaugh might be interested in a restructuring of the front office – not involving Baalke – before he would want to join the organization.
