49ers strike stadium naming rights deal with Levi's
The San Francisco 49ers are ready to slap a name on the $1.2 billion stadium they are opening in Santa Clara in time for the 2014 season.
The club will announce a stadium naming rights deal this morning with Levi’s, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.
The clothing manufacturer was founded in San Francisco in 1873 so there is a strong local tie. It will be interesting to see what kind of price tag comes with the deal, a fee that will help the Niners pay for construction of the new building.
Levi's was founded during the gold rush which makes it a good fit for the 49ers. That is for sure. Stay tuned for more details. The team is aiming to host Super Bowl L in 2016 so Levi’s would get worldwide publicity quickly.
