A call for the Rams to get Sam Bradford some help
The St. Louis Rams already have a leg up on the rest of the NFC West because they have a quarterback in Sam Bradford, who proved to be a star in the making as a rookie.
Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch makes the point. The Seattle Seahawks are not sure who their quarterback will be this season. The Arizona Cardinals will come screeching out of the gates when the new league year begins in search of one. The San Francisco 49ers are going to try Alex Smith until Colin Kaepernick presumably is ready.
So, Miklasz makes the point that it’s time to outfit Bradford while the Rams can. Get him some help so the team can maximize the advantage it has. Receiver is a tremendous position of need for St. Louis. Many projected the Rams to consider one in the first round of the draft. But the top prospects were gone and they went elsewhere. While they did add Austin Pettis and Greg Salas in the middle rounds, it will be a surprise if both players make big contributions in the next two years. The draft is hit-and-miss.
The Rams were 26th in the NFL in yards last season, 30th in yards per pass attempt and 26th in points. They’ve got a new offensive coordinator in Josh McDaniels. We’ll see if he gets a new weapon to share with Bradford. There are plenty of candidates available. It makes too much sense for the team to pass on the chance, and an improved passing game would certainly make the running game a little more dynamic.
