Abdullah brothers receive White House invitation
The Abdullah brothers will take today off from training camp and they’ve got a pretty good reason why.
Minnesota Vikings safety Husain Abdullah and Arizona Cardinals safety Hamza Abdullah will travel to the White House today and meet President Barack Obama. An Iftar dinner is being held to celebrate the Islamic holy month of Ramadan tonight, according to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
“For this occasion, (it wasn't a tough choice),” Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said. "A chance to meet the president, visit the White House. I told him I hope in February or next May or whenever it is we'll be going as a team. We're excited for him. I think it's a tremendous opportunity and a great honor.”
Per the report, Abdullah doesn’t know how or why he was selected. He received the invitation. From Aug. 1 to Aug. 29, Abdullah does not eat or drink between sunup and sundown, making training camp challenging for him.
