Adrian Peterson chasing records.

Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson is chasing the record books. Peterson is eyeing Emmitt Smith's career rushing record and Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record. Peterson told the Pioneer Press that he can reach Smith's 18,355 career record that was established in 15 NFL seasons. “A lot of things are still to come," Peterson said. " I look at things that anything is possible. He played 15 years. I’m going into year nine but I’ve only got eight on the body. That’s a long-term goal. Peterson has 10,190 yards currently, 8,166 shy of the mark. Dickerson rushed for 2,105 yards in 1984. In 2012, Peterson was nine yards shy of the record. “I think he already knows,” Peterson said. "He’s always going to be a competitor, like anybody. You don’t want your record broke. But if it gets broke, then you’re going to have respect for that person because you know what it takes to be able to accomplish that.” Follow me on Twitter: @RavensInsider Aaron Wilson covers the Ravens for The Baltimore Sun
