Adrian Peterson has high ankle sprain
It was a scary sight when Adrian Peterson was taken off the Metrodome field on a cart Sunday afternoon, and the Minnesota Vikings revealed the workhorse running back suffered a high left ankle sprain.
Peterson will wear a walking boot through at least Thursday and the hope is to have him test out the ankle in practice on Friday, according to Mark Craig of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier called it a “Grade 1” sprain, the least serious of the classifications, and a “little bit of ligament” damage.
"The good news is it's nothing more serious than that; it's an ankle sprain and he will recover from it," Frazier said. "It's just a matter of time. We'll monitor it. We don't want to put him at risk. You know how valuable he is to our team and our franchise.”
