After 44 seasons with franchise, Rams fire equipment manager
Todd Hewitt has been associated with the equipment department of the St. Louis Rams since 1967.
That association ended today when coach Steve Spagnuolo fired Hewitt, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Per the report, a member of the Hewitt family has run the Rams’ equipment department for the past 43 years, starting with Don Hewitt, the late father of Todd Hewitt. Hewitt became a full-time employee in 1978 and took over the outfit from his father in 1995 when the teams moved from Los Angeles to St. Louis.
The Rams also announced that assistant strength coach Chuck Faucette will not return.
“We have decided not to retain Todd Hewitt and Chuck Faucette going forward in 2011," Spagnuolo said in a statement released by the club. "We appreciate their efforts in the past and wish them well in the future."
