After loss to Packers, Jeremy Maclin says Eagles wouldn't have beaten Raiders
The Eagles did not look like playoff contenders during Sunday's 53-20 loss to the Packers.
Count receiver Jeremy Maclin as one of the Eagles' players being open and honest about that fact following the game. Speaking to reporters, via CSNPhilly.com, Maclin said that Sunday's loss was not only a thorough beatdown, but a game in which the Eagles did nothing to help themselves out in any fashion.
"It's the National Football League man," Maclin said. "The way we played today, it wouldn't matter if we played Oakland, who hasn't won a game yet — they would have beat the hell out of us too."
Oh, the Raiders, everyone's favorite punching bag at 0-10.
Thing is, Maclin's probably correct. The Raiders, at least defensively, played a decent game against the Chargers on Sunday, falling 13-6. Oakland actually had a chance to tie the game late but were unable to get that needed scoring drive with under a minute to go.
If the Eagles played the way they did early against Oakland, then yes, it probably would be a close game at the end. But at least if Philadelphia played Oakland, they wouldn't have been blown out. The loss the Eagles suffered against Green Bay was just plain embarrassing.
