Al Harris takes out newspaper ad to thank fans
Former Green Bay Packers cornerback Al Harris took out in advertisement in the Milwauke Journal Sentinel on Sunday to thank Green Bay Packers fans for support he received in more than seven years there.
Harris made 102 career starts for the Packers before he was released on Nov. 8 when the team made the decision not to promote him to the 53-man roster from the physically unable to perform list. He has been signed by the Miami Dolphins and is playing for them.
“Thank you for always supporting me,” Harris wrote in the ad. “Thank you for making one of the coldest places the warmest place.”
In the cutthroat world of professional sports, it’s refreshing to see an athlete acknowledge the community he was a part of in a move that he didn’t have to make.
