Alex Brown will visit Saints on Tuesday

There might not have been a team willing to strike a trade with the Chicago Bears for the services of Alex Brown.

That doesn’t mean there is not interest in the veteran defensive end. Brown will visit the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday, according to a league source, and that would present the opportunity for him to join an instant contender.

The Saints released former first-round draft pick Charles Grant earlier in the offseason and they have been patiently exploring the market. They were reported to have interest in James Hall and Leonard Little. Hall re-signed with the St. Louis Rams. There are an abundance of ends over 30 on the market, including Brown.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who use the same defensive scheme as the Bears, and the Carolina Panthers are also believed to have interest in Brown. The Panthers are dealing with the loss of Julius Peppers, who signed with the Bears, greasing the skids for Brown’s exit.
