Amidst chaos, Saints land Brodrick Bunkley

The Denver Broncos are still basking in the glow of the signing of quarterback Peyton Manning.

The New Orleans Saints are reeling after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell dropped a bomb on them, suspending head coach Sean Payton for a full year and general manager Mickey Loomis for eight games, among other penalties.

At least the Saints can say they won the play for defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley. Despite the Broncos’ desire to retain Bunkley, the top-rate run stuffer has signed on with New Orleans. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Bunkley receives a $25 million, five-year contract. The deal includes $9 million guaranteed.

Now, the Broncos can continue to consider ways to outfit Manning. The Saints can think about how they’re going to pick up the pieces.
