Andy Reid will not quit

If the Philadelphia Eagles are going to get rid of Andy Reid, that is one thing.

The 14-year veteran head coach isn’t going to quit though. In the middle of a six-game losing streak in an extremely trying season that got off to an unthinkable beginning when his son died in training camp, Reid did his best to stand strong Monday.

The Eagles were routed 31-6 on Sunday at FedEx Field by the Washington Redskins. Quarterback Michael Vick did not play with a concussion and running back LeSean McCoy was lost to a concussion in the final two minutes of the blowout.

"I'm standing in front of the team and saying these are the things we need to do, one of which is we need to battle," Reid said, according to Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I think (resigning) would be a cop out. That's not how I see things. That's now how I'm wired. I'm not going to tell them one thing and do the other."

Reid said the Eagles are “letting the fans down, letting the city down," but he isn’t about to give up at 3-7.

For what it’s worth, Reid said Vick will be the team’s starting quarterback when he is healthy enough to return. Rookie Nick Foles struggled against the Redskins in his debut.
