Aqib Talib's trial now pushed back to June
The trial of Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib has been pushed back once again.
Last week, Talib’s trial on charges of assault with a deadly weapon was moved from this week to mid-April. Now, Talib will not stand trial in Dallas County, Texas until June 25.
The trial was to be concluded before the NFL draft, giving the Bucs time to decide if Talib’s availability would change the team’s draft plans. Now, the Bucs don’t know if Talib will be potentially suspended by the NFL at the start of the 2012 season.
"Just trying to ensure we can try the case before the season starts," Talib’s attorney Frank Perez told Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune.
With an aging Ronde Barber in the mix, it’s pretty clear the Bucs need to add some youth and talent at the position. They could use it whether Talib will be around or not.
