Arkansas' Mallett gauging NFL interest

From Knoxville News Sentinel:

Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett says he has asked the NFL Collegiate Advisory Committee to gauge his possible positioning in the NFL draft.

Mallett said Tuesday he was exploring his NFL options and won't make a decision on whether to forgo his junior season and declare for the NFL draft until after Arkansas plays East Carolina in the Liberty Bowl on Jan. 2.

The committee will issue a projected "draft-round grade" to underclassmen who request feedback. Mallett said he does not have a round-grade in mind that would turn him toward the draft or lead him to drop that possibility.

"That was just a preliminary thing that a lot of juniors do, so I did it just to see what they had to say," he said. "But right now we're focused on East Carolina. The practices this week have been very good and I think we're going to be very prepared for this team."
