At long last, Darnell Dockett gets paid
A couple Arizona Cardinals signed some club friendly contract extensions that made it very difficult for them.
Finally, Anquan Boldin was about to get out of the desert, getting traded to the Baltimore Ravens at the start of the offseason. Now, Darnell Dockett has finally been paid.
Dockett was playing on a bad contract for him and he hadn’t been happy about it for years. The Cardinals finally made right by him, giving him a four-year contract extension through 2015. The deal reportedly is worth $48 million with $30 million guaranteed. Of course, until the final numbers come in, we won’t know for sure.
Boldin and Dockett are prime examples for younger players wanting to get paid. The second contract needs to be done right or there will be acrimony and there will be money lost. Now, the super productive Dockett has the security he has deserved. He’s one of the better interior players in the league, and he’s been a workhorse with 81 consecutive starts. He is a two-time Pro Bowl selection.
