Avril not optimistic deal will get done
While Drew Brees and Tyvon Branch have squeezed in contract extensions before the Monday deadline, one franchised player is not so optimistic he will get a long-term deal done.
Cliff Avril told the Detroit Free Press that he is "not getting a good vibe" about his contract situation.
“I’m hopeful, but I don’t know,” Avril told the Free Press. “I’m not getting a good vibe, let’s put it that way. But I’m hopeful.”
No extension would mean Avril playing for the $10.6 million franchise tender number in 2012, but it also might mean that Avril would stay away from training camp and preseason rather than sign the tender right away.
