Babineaux wants more playing time

Veteran safety Jordan Babineaux admits he is frustrated by his loss of playing time on defense and the Tennessee Titans overall struggles with an 0-2 start.

While Babineaux is taking the high road, he can't deny that he has been disappointed over a lack of use on the defense after starting 14 games a year ago and signing a two-year, $3.2 million extension in the off-season.

“It bothers me, without a doubt,” Babineaux told TitanInsider.com. “But it won’t stop the mentality and the thought process as far as preparation each week. I prepare the same. I take notes as if I’m a 60-play, 70-play type of guy. I don’t know. I’m just kind of waiting to see what kind of decisions the coaches are gonna make as far as the direction they want this defense to go. As far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t stop for me as far as getting here every day and back on the grind."

Titans coach Mike Munchak said the coaching staff decided that it like the way Michael Griffin and Robert Johnson played together, so Babineaux has been nudged into the background for now.

Babineaux is hopeful that he can regain some playing time fairly soon.

“I have a lot more to offer this team than my contributions on special teams,” he said.
