Banks will get tryout with Chargers

Brian Banks, whose story of spending five years in prison over a false rape conviction, will get a tryout today with the San Diego Chargers, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Banks was a one-time high school football star headed to the University of Southern California, whose life was derailed when he was convicted on charges of rape and kidnapping based on false accusations made by a girl he knew. Banks served five years of a six-year sentence, but was finally exonerated on May 24 after he had a taped conversation of his accuser admitting the charges were a lie.

Banks also visited with the Seattle Seahawks this week and will accept an invitation to their mini-camp as he tries to pursue his dream of playing in the NFL after a horribly unfair chapter in his life has finally come to an end.
