Bears add pro scout James Kirkland
BOURBONNAIS, Ill.—The hiring of Tim Ruskell as the director of player personnel was not the final move the Chicago Bears made in their front office.
General manager Jerry Angelo restructured his department during the offseason and the key move was adding Ruskell, the former general manager of the Seattle Seahawks who is a close friend of Angelo’s after the pair worked together in Tampa Bay for more than a decade.
The Bears have also added an additional pro scout to the mix, hiring James Kirkland to work with Kevin Turks and Dennard Wilson. With Ruskell overseeing the pro and college scouting departments, Kirkland is another set of eyes for the pro side of things.
Kirkland worked for the Cleveland Browns for the previous six seasons. He was let go there in January after Mike Holmgren was hired and the team began a major overhaul.
