Bears bring Juaquin Iglesias back on practice squad
On Saturday, the Bears parted ways with Juaquin Iglesias, their third-round draft pick from 2009.
Today, they brought him back as part of their practice squad. The Bears had been pleased with the offseason work Iglesias did but he suffered a pulled groin muscle early in training camp and rarely got the exposure needed with the first unit to make an impact.
Instead of cutting ties with the 99th pick from last year’s draft all together, he was brought back where he’ll have a chance to get noticed. The same can’t be said for defensive lineman Jarron Gilbert, also a third-round pick from last year who was waived. He will not return, not now any way.
The Bears also re-signed wide receiver Greg Mathews to the practice squad along with defensive end Barry Turner and fullback Eddie Williams. Intent on developing some young offensive linemen, Edwin Williams, James Marten and Levi Horn were also signed to the practice squad.
