Bears could be without Lance Briggs come Sunday
The Chicago Bears face the possibility that they will be without weak-side linebacker Lance Briggs, a Pro Bowl selection for the last five consecutive seasons, on Sunday when they host the Seattle Seahawks at Soldier Field.
Briggs has not practiced yet this week with a sprained left ankle that forced him out of action last Sunday at Carolina. He missed the final preseason game with a sprained right ankle, and then was held out of a handful of early-season practices.
Briggs has missed only three games in his seven seasons. He is the team’s leading tackler through the first five games with 49 tackles and 31 solos. He has one sack, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
If Briggs cannot play, he will be replaced by Brian Iwuh, a five-year veteran who the team signed in free agency.
