Bears dump Charles Grant after just two weeks
Two weeks after signing an out-of-shape Charles Grant, the Chicago Bears have released the veteran defensive end.
Grant was inactive for the last two weeks and seemed like a puzzling choice when he was added after the team released Mark Anderson. Grant doesn’t fit the Tampa-2 scheme that Lovie Smith employs, and was some 30 pounds or more heavier than what the Bears typically employ at the end position.
Taking his place is Barry Turner, an undrafted rookie free agent from Nebraska who was promoted from the practice squad. Turner shows flashes during preseason when he had one sack.
