Bears hoping Jay Cutler can return next week
For the second consecutive day, the Chicago Bears listed Jay Cutler as limited on the injury report.
The difference is earlier today the team announced the starting quarterback will sit Sunday at Carolina, a week after he suffered a concussion on one of nine sacks in a brutal loss to the New York Giants.
Cutler met with Bears doctors and an independent physician following practice on Wednesday and the determination was made that he’s not ready to return. Todd Collins will start in his place, getting the 21st regular-season start in his 16-year career.
The question, and it’s impossible to answer, is could Cutler miss more than one game?
“There's no reason to think that,” coach Lovie Smith said. “He's making progress. You guys have seen him around here right now. Hopefully that won't be the case. Of course all we know right now is he's not playing this week. Hopefully he'll be ready to go next week.”
The Bears host the Seattle Seahawks at Soldier Field in Week 6.
