Bears hosting Michael Bush, Anthony Herrera
The Chicago Bears are hosting Michael Bush on a free-agent visit today and it’s an interesting potential pairing.
Matt Forte is the featured back for the Bears, but he’s been retained with the franchise tag and that makes his future with the organization uncertain. Forte could elect to holdout. The Bears could determine to move on from him after this season if an agreement on a long-term deal cannot be reached. So far, there’s been no progress.
Bush is a physical runner who would fit well with what offensive coordinator Mike Tice plans to do. He’s likely looking for an opportunity to start, and the Cincinnati Bengals are reported to have interest, but they could go in a different direction.
The Bears are also hosting veteran guard Anthony Herrera for a visit. He played under Tice in Minnesota and was cut loose by the Vikings in a cap-related move. Something to keep in mind: The Bears typically don’t host players on show visits. They mean business when they bring players in. Stay tuned.
