Bears' Johnny Knox carted off field

Bears wide receiver Johnny Knox was carted off the field early in Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Initial reports saying he has a mid-back injury.

In the first quarter, Knox caught a 17-yard pass that was knocked out of his hands. While Knox and players went after the loose ball, Knox took a hit from Seahawk’s Anthony Hargrove that bent his upper body back awkwardly.

Knox was down on the ground for several minutes. He was seen flexing his hands as he left the field.

The Bears are also without starting quarterback Jay Cutler and starting running back Matt Forte.

Update: Knox was taken to a Chicago area hospital for precautionary reasons.

Update: Reports saying Kox is to have surgery Monday to stabilize a vertebrae in his back.
