Bears LB Lance Briggs expected to miss rest of preseason
Lance Briggs will likely be sidelined for the remainder of the preseason as the Chicago Bears linebacker deals with what the club described last week was a bruised left knee.
Briggs was held out of the team’s second preseason game Monday night against the New York Giants and will not play Saturday at Tennessee in what is the dress rehearsal for the regular season. The weak-side linebacker, who is a six-time Pro Bowl performer, isn’t the only defensive starter sidelined. Defensive tackle Anthony Adams has been out two weeks with a calf muscle injury.
“Maybe not even the rest of the preseason,” Bears coach Lovie Smith said. “We’ll see how that goes. We’re going to take our time with them and make sure that they’re ready to go before we put them back out there. We know what they can do.”
Smith said neither player is dealing with a serious injury.
