Bears receiver Domenik Hixon tears ACL

Chicago Bears veteran wide receiver Domenik Hixon announced on Facebook that he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament.

“I tore my ACL today for the 3rd time today!” Hixon wrote. “I’m disappointed that I won’t be playing for a bears team that has the players and coaches to WIN the Super Bowl. I thank God for letting me live my dream of playing in the NFL for 8 years plus. It has truly been FUN!”

Hixon has torn his ACL twice previously when he was with the New York Giants.

Hixon has 109 career receptions for 1,460 yards and seven touchdowns.

He has averaged 24.6 yards per kickoff return with one touchdown, also running back one punt for a touchdown.

Hixon was selected by the Denver Broncos in the fourth round of the 2006 draft out of Akron. He has also played for the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers.

In 2008, he caught a career-high 43 passes for 596 yards and two touchdowns.

Last season with the Panthers, Hixon had seven receptions for 55 yards and one touchdown.
