Bears release punter Adam Podlesh

The Chicago Bears have released punter Adam Podlesh from his contract, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Podlesh tweeted a response following the announcement.

"A sincere thank you to the Bears organization and fans for the opportunity to represent a first class franchise and last #BearDown," Podlesh wrote.

Podlesh spent the past three years with the Bears after beginning his career in Jacksonville.

In 2013, Podlesh posted a career-low punting average with 40.6 yards per attempt. His net average was the second-worst of his career at 37.9.

His net average ranked 29th in the NFL this past season.

The Bears have two other punters on their roster signed to reserve/future deals in Tress Way and Drew Butler.
