Bears sign three defensive linemen

The Chicago Bears are lacking some depth at defensive tackle and they didn’t find any for the position during the draft.

But the club has picked some up off the street, signing John McCargo, the former first-round draft pick of the Buffalo Bills, and DeMario Pressley to one-year deals. McCargo and Pressley were teammates at North Carolina State.

The Bears also signed Cheta Ozougwu, a seventh-round draft pick of the Houston Texans last season who was Mr. Irrelevant. Ozougwu was selected to play outside linebacker for the Texans but the Bears will try him at defensive end. He was not with a team last season after being released following training camp. Ozougwu had 11 sacks during his career at Rice.

McCargo was cut loose earlier this month by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His most productive season in the NFL was 2007 when he appeared in all 16 games for the Bills and made 29 tackles with 2
