Belcher left girlfriend's blood smeared in his car

The answers as to why Jovan Belcher murdered his girlfriend and then killed himself might never be fully known.

But the grim reminders of his grisly act are everywhere. The New York Daily News reports that there was some of Kasandra Perkins' blood smeared on the gear shift of Belcher's car, which he drove to Arrowhead Stadium just before he turned the gun on himself, committing suicide in front of Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel and general manager Scott Pioli.

There was also broken glass all over the console of Belcher's 2007 Bentley.

Other reports indicated that Perkins had been shot nine times by the Chiefs linebacker.

Somehow, the Chiefs pulled themselves together on Sunday and recorded just their second win of the season. Afterwards, players and Crennel alike were understandably very emotional in the aftermath of all that had happened.

In the locker room afterward, Crennel, joined by owner Clark Hunt, told his players this, per the Kansas City Star:

"You overcame a lot, you stuck together as a team like we talked about … helped each other … family and friends, you relied on those people or you relied on your faith to help get you through this.

“And we got through it … in a grand way because everyone made a contribution, everybody helped. And that's what a team is about.”
